Around the Helford – Gweek Quay Boatyard has spaces for over 250 vessels, ashore, alongside and under cover with on-site cranes and boat trailer to carry up to 24 tonnes. We undertake modern and traditional yacht repairs, classic boat refits and restorations, with specialist facilities for wood, steel and G.R.P. repairs. – The Helford Marine Conservation Group is a voluntary organisation working to safeguard the marine life of the beautiful Helford River, to increase its biological diversity and raise awareness of its marine interest and importance. – Helford River Boats offer Boat Hire, Ferry Services and Moorings on the Helford River – The Helford River Sailing Club – Helford River Moorings – The Helford River Children’s Sailing Trust provides the opportunity for every 8 – 11 year old in the schools we serve to learn to row and sail single-handed; to discover love and respect for the sea; to gain confidence for life, and to accelerate academic learning. In addition we offer opportunities for training in sailing and powerboating for adults and teenagers. – The Port Navas Yacht Club caters for both social and boating members. Local Agencies – The Maritime and Coastguard Agency is responsible for co-ordinating search and rescue at sea through Her Majesty’s Coastguard, and checking that ships meet UK and international safety rules. We work to prevent the loss of lives at the coast and at sea, to ensure that ships are safe, and to prevent coastal pollution. Safer Lives, Safer Ships, Cleaner Seas. – Cornwall Council’s online planning register allows the public to view and comment on planning applications and see decisions. The HRA comments on those applications that materially affect the surroundings of the Helford.
